DIY Fairy House Lamp Using Plastic Bottles and Pebbles
Hello, in this tutorial I show you how I made a little fairy house lamp using a 2,5 liters coke plastic bottle, pebbles, cardboard, paint, hot glue and paper clay. This is a great way to teach children about recycling and also stimulate their creativity and imagination.
I start by cutting the plastic bottle to the desired height. I draw the door and windows using a marker. I glue pebbles around the door and use some coffee wooden sticks to make the shape of the windows. I then add pebbles all around the windows too. I made the base of the house using toilet paper rolls and also glued a cardboard base under the house. I added some more pebbles here and there, bigger at the bottom and smaller at the top. I made some additional small windows near the roof. The base of the roof is made with some wooden twigs I had from my previous project (almost nothing is wasted). After I was satisfied with the arrangement of the pebbles I start adding paper clay. I carefully add the paper clay between the pebbles so I integrate them in the design. I made a bunch of mushrooms at the bottom of the house for a little contrast. I worked in two layers. One just for covering the basic shape and the other for details like roof tiles, bricks and wooden textures. When working in layers is important that you wet the dry surfaces before adding fresh clay to the old one. This will reactivate the stickiness of the dry paper clay. The roof tiles should be placed starting from the bottom of the roof and working your way up. When you are completely satisfied with the shape you can let everything dry. For painting I used watercolors only. The painting process is a simple one for me: basic color followed by shadows and lights. For each element I paint I use the same method. Base color + shadows + lights. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. I placed some battery LED lights under the house. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!
