Shiofune Kannon Temple azaleas are in full bloom.
Shiofune Kannon Temple is a large Shingon Buddhist temple a valley on the outskirts of Ome City, Tokyo.
This temple is famous for its large flower gardens, particularly for its vast amount and variety of azalea bushes, blossoming from mid-April to mid-May.
Entire temple grounds were ablaze with color as different azalea bushes came to full bloom.
The multicolored hues and the care with which Shiofune’s garden is maintained create the feeling of being in a kind of paradise.

塩船観音は、都心から直通列車で約1時間、青梅線河辺駅北口より、バスで揺られること10分、さらに停留所から徒歩で10分にある。
摺り鉢状になった境内の斜面には約20種類2万本のツツジが色鮮やかに咲き誇り、360度パノラマの景色を楽しむことができます。例年4月下旬から5月のゴールデンウィークにピークを迎え、包み込むようになだらかに咲き広がるツツジは心も癒される風景です。毎年5月3日の大祭には、真言宗修験道の柴燈護摩が焚かれ、山伏の行列や火渡りの荒行も行われます。
