PART OF THE 2022 LAKE FRIENDLY LIVING AWARENESS MONTH
Presented by: Alaina Robarge, Conservation District Educator, Ontario County Soil and Water Conservation District
The Ontario County Soil and Water Conservation District has completed multiple streambank and shoreline stabilization projects across Ontario County. There focus is on implementing projects that not only protect public uses and public infrastructure, like roads and buildings, but also mimic what would occur in nature to recreate native aquatic habitat. Nature-based design practices focus on using materials and building methods that occur naturally in ecosystems.
At this lunch and learn presentation, Alaina shared ideas on nature-based shoreline options and some lake-friendly practices you can start working
on right in your own backyard.
