Protein as Fertiliser

One of the gardening methods we are trialing relies on a DIY fertiliser mix which contains substantial amounts of nitrogen, due to the high protein content of the seed meal that tit is based on. But I had to find a suitable replacement for the seed meal which is hard to eat in this context.
